Miss Valera Gregory To Wed Mr. Mayfield

The approaching marriage of Miss Valera Gregory of Jefferson, S. C., to Mark Hanna Mayfield, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., is of interest, the engagement being announced this morning by Mr. and Mrs. George Winfield Gregory, brother and sister of the bride to be.

The bride is the daughter of the late Doctor and Mrs. George W. Gregory of Jefferson. After attending high school at the Mont Amoena Seminary in Mount Pleasant, N. C., received B. S. degree from Greenville Women’s College in Greenville, S. C. She studied at Furman University, University of Alabama, University of Florida and Columbia University. Miss Gregory was very active in extra curricular activities, president of science club in junior year and president of literary society in senior year. She has been a teacher of science in the Cloverdale High School of Montgomery for a number of years, and is now connected with Dade County Board of Public Instruction as coordinator of diversified training in the Andrew Jackson High School in Miami, Fla.

Mr. Mayfield is the son of Mrs. Dixon Mayfield and the late Mr. Mayfield of Tuscaloosa, and is the foster son of the late Judge James J. Mayfield, of Montgomery. He spent his early life in this city.

Mr. Mayfield received his preparatory education at the Edge School for Boys in this city and completed his education at the University of Alabama, and later was in business in that city. After a brief wedding trip the couple will make their home in Miami, Fla.
