III-5 MARY ELIZABETH BROWN, b. Apr 13, 1884, d. Mar 17, 1969. She graduated from Mont Amoena Female Seminary, Mount Pleasant, N. C. She was also a student for one year at Elizabeth College for Women, Charlotte, N. C. She engaged in teaching mostly in high schools.

Miss Brown, 84, of China Grove
LANDIS – Miss Mary Elizabeth Brown, 84, of Rt. 1, China Grove, died today at 10 a.m. at the Timrick Nursing Home after an extended illness.
A native of Rowan County, she was born April 13, 1884, the daughter of the late Dr. B.S and Mrs. Mary Catherine Brown. A graduate of Elizabeth College, she did graduate work at the University of Virginia and at UNC at Chapel Hill.
She taught school in Hickory, Albemarle, and Blacksburg, Va., before her retirement.
Two brothers, Myron D. Brown of Rt. 1, Kannapolis, and Dr. B.S. Brown of Kannapolis, survive.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body will remain at the Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Landis.
