Fairfax Fancies.
Fairfax, December 28. — We were not very much surprised Xmas week when Mr. Martin Lightsey arrived from Johnston with is lovely bride, who was Miss Etta Copeland. The latter had been teaching at Johston, and as soon as her school closed for the Xmas holidays they were married by her former pastor, Rev. P. E. Munroe. Both of these young people are claimed as Fairfaxans as the bride taught her for several years, and the groom is the popular book-keeper of the F. M. Young Co. They are boarding now with Mrs. Mary Youmans, but in a few weeks expect to keep house in their own snug cottage. We wish for them unclouded skies, with all the joy that can come to mortals here below as they journey through a life full of vicissitudes.

ESTIMABLE WOMAN DEAD.
Mrs. W. Martin Lightsey of Fairfax Victim of Pneumonia
Special to The State.
Fairfax, Jan. 21. – Mrs. W. Martin Lightsey died at her home here yesterday morning of pneumonia, which followed influenza. Mrs. Lightsey was a lovable woman and her death has brought sadness to all the people of the community. As Miss Etta Copeland, she was one of the teachers in the graded and high school here during several sessions with satisfaction to pupils and patrons. She was a member of the U. D. C. and contributed interesting historical articles on the reconstruction period. She was active in raising funds for the Red Cross and in the sale of war savings stamps and Liberty Bond during the world war just ended. Mrs. Lightsey was a member of the Lutheran Church and a teacher in the Sunday school. Her constant aim in life seemed to be to make the world better and its inhabitants happier and she died beloved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband and four children, three sons and one daughter, ranging in age from two to eight years, and her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. David Copeland of Hampton County, two sisters and two brothers.
