Miss Efird Bride of Alonzo F. Morris
Tuesday at high noon, Miss Bessie Lee Efird was married to Mr. Alonzo Fields Morris of Burlington, in a very quiet but exceptionally beautiful ceremony at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Efird, on South Second Street, Rev. C. T. Fisher, of Rockwell, officiating. The wedding music was played by Miss Mary Lou Fogleman, of Burlington, a cousin of the bride. An improvised altar, formed with pedestals and silver baskets filled with white narcissi, was artistically arranged before a background of greenery. The entire lower floor of the home was decorated with trailing ivy. Chrystal candle sticks held burning tapers. The bridal march from Lohengrin was rendered and the bride and groom entered together and stood upon a white prayer rug. “To a Wild Rose: was played during the ceremony.
The bride wore a beautiful gown of tan cut velvet with fur trimming, her hat, shoes and other accessories harmonizing. She wore a corsage bouquet of brides roses and lilies o the valley. Only relatives and a few neighbors were present at the ceremony and buffet luncheon.
The dining table was covered with Cluny lace and in the center was a handsome silver basket of carnations and fern. Mrs. J. S. Efird and Mrs. W. G. Efird poured coffee, and a delightful salad course with accessories was served, followed by a sweet course.
Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Morris left for a bridal trip, at the expiration of which they will be at home in Burlington.
The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Efird and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Efird. She was educated at the Albemarle Normal and Industrial Institute and Mont Amoena Seminary, Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Morris is a tall handsome brunette with lovely coloring and attractive personality and is one of the most admired young ladies of Albemarle.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Morris, of Troy. He is a young man of splendid business ability and is a registered pharmacist, holding a responsible position with City Drug Company of Burlington. Mr. Morris commands many friends throughout the state.
