Concord, N. C., R. 4, Aug. 21 – Mr. Malvern R. Ritchie and Miss Mittie Hahn were married Saturday, Aug. 17th at St. John’s Lutheran parsonage at 7:30 o’clock by Rev. C. R. Pless, pastor. Mr. Ritchie is a son of Mr. Luther Ritchie, well to do farmer of No. 6 township, while the bride is a daughter of Mr. William Hahn, of Mt. Pleasant. This marriage while a surprise to the public had been known for some time by the intimate friends of both parties.
Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie has a number of friends in Rowan who will join there [sic] many friends in Cabarrus in wishing them a long and happy life.
On last Monday night, 25 or more of Mr. Ritchie’s friends met at his home and gave a good old time belling one such as our forefathers gave when the were boys.

HENDERSONVILLE, NC – Mittie E. Ritchie, 93, Cabarrus County native – Mittie E Ritchie, 93, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Sept 2, 1986, in Fairhaven Nursing Center after an extended illness. A native of Cabarrus County, she had been living here for the past three years and was the wife of the late Malvin Ritchie who died in 1973. Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Reed and Madelynne Peurifoy, both of Hendersonville; two sons, Kindred Ritchie of Mount Pleasant and Malvin Ritchie Jr of Windsor Illinois; and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
Funeral service will be held at 2 p m Friday in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Pleasant, of which she was a member
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to Gordon Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant, where visitation will be held 7-9 p m Thursday Thos Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
