Mrs. Mae Haithcox Baker Becomes Bride of Cager Parx Barringer, of Salisbury
Of interest to friends of the contracting party was the marriage of Mrs. Mae Haithcox Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Haithcox, of Troutman, and Cager Parx Barringer, of Salisbury, Thursday afternoon.
The wedding was solemnized on the beautiful and capacious lawn of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Baker, who reside on the Lexington Road, with Rev. L. P. Smith, pastor of the East Fourth street Baptist Church officiating.
Immediately after the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Barringer left by motor of Western North Carolina and after August 10, will be at home to their friends in Salisbury where Mr. Barringer is engaged in the practice of law.
Announcements reading as follows have been issued; “Mr. and Mrs. Charels A. Haithcox announce the marriage of their daughter, Mae Haithcox Baker, to Cager Parx Barringer, which was solemnized Thursday July 30, Winston-Salem. At home after August 10, Salisbury.”

Mae H. Arey, 102
The funeral will be Friday Mae Haithcox Arey, 102, Salisbury, who died Monday (Aug. 25, 1997) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after six days of serious illness.
Born Dec 21, 1894, in Iredell County, Mrs. Arey was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Hattie Early Haithcox. She was educated at Mont Amoena Normal School in Mount Pleasant. Employed by R. J. Reynolds, Winston-Salem, in her early life, she was later a homemaker. She was the oldest member of Haven Lutheran Church and attended regularly, rarely missing Sunday school or church from the time she moved here 67 years ago until after her 102nd birthday.
She published a book of poetry when she was 94 years old – and continued to write long after that.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John R. Baker, C. P. Barringer, and John Arey.
Survivors include sons William M. Baker, Salisbury, and Robert D. Barringer, Wilson; daughter Janet Baker Clark, St. Mary’s, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Friday, Haven Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Ronald W. Fink. Private burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Troutman.
Visitation: 12:30-2 p.m. Friday, Lyerly Funeral Home.
