HARKEY-SMITH
CONCORD, Aug 6 – Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Margie Harkey and George Smith, both of Cabarrus County. the wedding was solemnized Thursday afternoon July 28, at the parsonage of St. Stephen’s Lutheran church, with the pastor, Rev. W. H. Dutton, officiating. Mrs. Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Harkey and is a teacher in the Enochvill school. She is a graduate of Catawba College. Mr. Smith is a prominent farmer of Cabarrus County.

Mrs. Smith’s Rites Listed
Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Alis Smith, 54, of 216 South Rose Avenue will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roberta Methodist Church.
Mrs. Smith died early this morning at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health for a number of months and seriously ill several days.
She was born June 26, 1902, a daughter of Henry W. and Carrie Barrier Harkey of Gold Hill, both of whom survive. She attended Mt. Pleasant schools and Catawba College.
Mrs. Smith was a retired school teacher, having taught 30 years in Cabarrus and Rowan Counties.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Max Brandon. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the home from Hartsell Funeral Home today at 3 p.m. and will like in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Surviving, in addition to the parents, are her husband, George W. Smith; three brothers, George Harkey of Salisbury, Lex and Fred Harkey, both of Gold Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Beaver and Mrs. Vergie McDonald, both of Concord.
