Miss Virginia Harkey Is Wed to C. H. McDonald

A wedding of interest to the friends was that of Miss Virgie Elizabeth Harkey and Claude Havis McDonald, which was solemnized on Wednesday evening, October 29th, at 6 o’clock in the Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Gold Hill.

Rev. W. H. Dutton, pastor of the bride officiated, using the impressive ring ceremony. The church was decorated in a profusion of flowers and potted plants and lighted by white tapers.

The bride was becomingly attired in a dress of brown velvet with accessories to match. Her corsage was of sweetheart roses and lillies of the valley. She was given in marriage by her father, Mr. H. W. Harkey. Lex Harkey, brother of the bride, accompanied the bridegroom as best man.

Preceding the ceremony, the sister of the bride, Miss Margie Harkey, sang, accompanied at the organ by Miss Ethel Barrier.

Mrs. Zeb C. Strawn, sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. She wore a charming costume of green and carried yellow chrysanthemums. The flower girls, Mary Alice Beaver and Mary Francis Harkey, nieces of the bride, were dressed in yellow and carried baskets of yellow flowers.

Mrs. McDonald is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Harkey, of Gold Hill, N. C. She received her education at Mount [sic] Amoena Seminary, Mt. Pleasant, N. C., and is a graduate nurse of the Charlotte Sanatorium.

Mr. McDonald is the son of Mrs. Margie McDonald, of this city, and is at present in the service of the United States Navy.

Following the ceremony an informal reception was given at the home of the bride. After the reception, Mr. and Mrs. McDonald left for a motor trip to Washington.

Many friends and relatives from Charlotte and Salisbury attended the wedding.
