Rites Held For Mrs. Lilly Efird
Funeral services for Mrs. Lilly May Harward Efird, 92, of 108 Harwood Street, Albemarle, were conducted at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in First Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Rev. John M. Hawn, pastor, officiated, and interment was in Fairview Memorial Park, with graveside rites conducted by Rev. Dermont F. Swicegood.
Mrs. Efird died early Monday morning in Stanly County Hospital after several years of declining health. She was born May 19, 1886, in Stanly County and was a daughter of the late Jacob Myrick and Mary Lauretta Coble Harward. She attended Stanly County Schools, Mont Amoena Seminary in Mount Pleasant and Lenoir College, now Lenoir Rhyne. She was married to Killian P. Efird, who preceded her in death in 1951.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. Max (Lilly Florence) Morton of Albemarle, Mrs. E. P. (Mary Elizabeth) Ritter of Hamlet, and Mrs. Dermont F. (Eloise) Swicegood of Lexington, South Carolina; two sons, Mike Coble Efird of Albemarle and Jack Treece Efird of Charlotte’ three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Almond, Miss Ila Harward and Mrs. Roscoe Whitley, all of Albemarle, and Mrs. Maude Brown of Winston-Salem; 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Aubrey Harward Efird and K. P. Efird, preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Dwight Efird, John Jacob Morton, Steve Surratt, Stan Honeycutt, Max Morgan and Lewis Hutchinson.
