A Surprise Marriage
Salisbury, R. 3., Nov. 29. – Mr. Charles Stirewalt and Miss Mary Julian gave their friends a surprise on Sunday, November 17, by driving to the home of pastor M. L. Ridenhour at Zeb. and getting married. Both are quite popular in the community and have the best wishes of every one for a happy wedded life.

Mrs. Stirewalt
CHINA GROVE – Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Julian Stirewalt, 91, of Rt. 2 will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Floyd Bost will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will remain at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral home here until placed in state at the church one half hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. today.
Mrs. Stirewalt died Tuesday at a nursing home in Salisbury. She had been in declining health several years and seriously ill one week.
A native of Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Ross Julian and Mrs. Mariah Rusher Julian and was educated at Mont Amoena Seminary, Mt. Pleasant.
Surviving are four sons, Charles H. Stirewalt of Kannapolis, Earl B. Stirewalt and H. B. Julian, both of Salisbury, Francis J. Stirewalt of Spencer; two daughters, Mrs. Henry White and Mrs. Viena Freeze, both of China Grove; three step-sons, Ray B. Stirewalt, Harry L. Stirewalt, both of China Grove and Ralph J. Stirewalt of Murphy; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Roy Cline of Rockwell; one brother, Sidney Julian of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Safreit and Miss Bessie Julian both of Salisbury; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren.
