Miss M’Allister Becomes Bride Of Mr. Smith

(Special to Daily News)
CONCORD, May 27.—Beautiful in every detail was the wedding of Miss Virginia Shirey McAllister and Jacob Archie Smith, both of Mt. Pleasant, which was solemnized Saturday afternoon, May 20, at Holy Trinity Lutheran church in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. John W. Link and Rev. L. D. Miller, pastor of the bridegroom, officiated with the double ring service of the Lutheran ritual.

Miss Julie Shirey, organist, and Mrs. George Little, of Winston-Salem, violinist, rendered the wedding music prior to the ceremony, and Miss Carolyn McAllister, sister of the bride, sang “Because,” by D’Hardelet, before the entrance of the bridal party. Mrs. Little played the wedding hymn, “O Perfect Love,” during the ceremony, and the traditional processional and recessional marches were played by the organist.

Henry Boger and Alex McAllister, of Mt. Pleasant, served as ushers. The bride’s only attendant was her sister, Miss Elizabeth Kate McAllister.

The bride was attired in a traveling costume of navy alpaca with white accessories. Instead of a bouquet she carried the prayerbook long used by her father, the late Col. G. F. McAllister, and it was showered with valley lilies. She carried her mother’s wedding handkerchief, and her only ornament was a gold necklace given by her grandfather to his bride.

After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Smith left for a wedding trip through the Great Smoky mountains, and after June 1 will reside in Concord.

Mrs. Smith was educated at the Mt. Pleasant institute and at Newberry college. She is deputy clerk of the Superior court in Cabarrus county.

Mr. Smith is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney E. Smith, of Mt. Pleasant. He was educated at the Mt. Pleasant Collegiate institute and holds a position with the Cabarrus Bank and Trust company in Concord.
