Miller-Ewing

Salisbury, R. 1., June 26. – The marriage of Mr. James Ewing and Miss Willie Christine Miller which occurred Tuesday morning at eight o’clock at the home of the bride, nine miles south of Salisbury, is of wide interest owing to the prominence of the two families.

The ceremony took place in the right corner of the front yard under an improvised arch which was beautifully arranged with ferns and roses, the color scheme being green and white. Rev. C. R. Pless a brother-in-law of the bride and Rev. G. O. Ritchie the brides pastor officiated and Mr. Hamptong Stirewalt presided at the piano rendering Mendelssohn’s wedding march. A special musical feature was a vocal solo, “I Love You,” by Mrs. Roy Kimball.

The pretty bride was dressed in a coat suit of tan and accessories to match. Miss Mary Miller the maid of honor wore white crepe de chine and a large picture hat, carrying a bouquet of sweet peas. The groom was accompanied by Mr. Robert Tomlinson Troy.

These couples were preceded by the bridesmaids, dressed in white crepe and who came in couples and formed pince arches of garlands and of queen ann’s lace, Miss Catherine Goodman, East Flat Rock; Miss Olanthe Miller, Salisbury; Miss Tomnae May Tomlison, Troy; Miss Lillian Catherine Miller, Cooleemee; Miss HOpe Baker, Salisbury; Miss Sallie Ewing, Troy.

The ring bearer, Master Chas. Miller Pless, nephew of the bride, attired in white wended his way from the front door under the arches with the ring hidden in the top of a white rose.

After the ceremony the bridal party was invited to the dining room where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was served. The bride and groom left on the noon train for points east. They will make their home in Troy.

Some of the guests from a distance were Mr. Albert Loodhaldt, Allendale, S. C., Dr. G. W. Loodhaldt and family, Allendale; Miss Margurite Houck of Statesville; Mr. Albert Miller and two daughters from Cooleemee; Mr. and Mrs. John Goodman and family of East Flat Rock.

Mrs. Ewing is an attractive and cultured young woman, who has just finished a successful year as music teacher at Troy High school and her many friends congratulate the young man from Troy on his successful suit.

The groom is a promising young man and is engaged in the mercantile business at Troy. Their many friends wish for them every species of happiness in their new relations.
