Shealys Observe 50th Anniversary
NEWBERRY, Sept. 27 – Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Shealy observed their golden wedding anniversary Wednesday afternoon, September 19, at their home in Little Mountain with open house. They were assisted in receiving by the surviving members of their weening party of 50 years ago. They are Mrs. Crosson Sease of Lexington, Mr. Shealy’s sister; Miss Toy Lathan of Columbia and Miss Cora Shealy of Little Mountain.

LITTLE MOUNTAIN (Special) – Mrs. Catherine (Bessie) Monts Shealy, 79, wife of William B. Shealy of Little Mountain, died Thursday morning at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital after several months of declining health.
She was the daughter of the late G. Michael and Kate Feagle Monts and lived in Little Mountain all her life. The last member of her immediate family, she was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and had been church organist. Sunday School teacher and leader of the Light Brigade, and president and treasurer of the United Lutheran Church Women of Holy Trinity. She also was statistical secretary of the church and a member of the Little Mountain Home Demonstration Club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Garth L. Hill. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be at the Whitaker Funeral Home until 9:30 Friday morning, then taken to the home at Little Mountain.
