Miss Temperance Ritchie Bride of Rex M. Wiest

Miss Temperance Ritchie of Albemarle and Rex M. Wiest of Courtland, N. Y., were united in marriage in a quiet ceremony solemnized Wednesday afternoon, July 7, at four o’clock in the home of the bride’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Ritchie on North Fifth street. Rev. G. H. Rhodes, pastor of First Lutheran church, officiated at the double ring ceremony which took place in the presence of only members of the immediate families.

There were no attendants and the couple entered together. The vows were spoken in the living room before the mantel which was banked with baskets holding white gladioli, Queen Anne’s lace and ferns. Other arrangements of snapdragons, lilies and gladioli in pastel shades were used throughout the house.

The bride wore an afternoon frock of aquamarine crepe, a white Leghorn picture hat and black accessories. She completed her costume with a purple orchid corsage.

After the ceremony, the guests were invited into the dining room where individual bridal cakes were served with green and white ice cream and mints. The table was overlaid with a lace cloth and centered with a crystal bowl of white asters and daisies, encircled with white tapers in crystal candlesticks.

Later in the afternoon the couple left for a wedding trip and upon their return will make their home on North Second street. For traveling the bride changed to a white pique dress with gold trim and white accessories.

Mrs. Wiest is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther Ritchie of Mount Pleasant. She was graduated from Mont Amoena seminary in Mount Pleasant and the Asheville Mission hospital school of nursing in Asheville. She now holds a position in the office of Dr. L. V. Dunlap.
