Miss Mae E. Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. S. Smith, of 835 North Seventh street, left on Monday for Mt. Pleasant, where she was appointed Directress of Music in the Mont Amoena Seminary. Miss Smith is a graduate of the Ithaca Conservatory of Music, and last year had a very successful at Weleetka, Oklahoma, as supervisor of music.

Mrs. Mae Blume Rites are Held

MIDLAND (TX) – Services for Mrs. Mae Evelyn Blume, 68, were held at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Charlottesville, Va. Midland arrangements were directed by Newnie W. Ellis Funeral Home here.

She died at her home about 10:30 a.m. Thursday after a short illness.

Mrs. Blume was born May 23, 1901, in Slatington, Pa. She attended Ithaca College in New York. She was married to Clarence J. Blume in Charlottesville, Va.

She has lived in New Orleans 13 years where she served as music director of the Oak Park Presbyterian Church. She had lived here for three years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. C. F. Caliga of Midland; as son, Kenneth Blume of Newport News, Va.: two sisters, Mrs. William R. Tamblin and Miss Frances Smith, both of Allentown, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

MIDLAND, Tex. – Mrs. Mae Evelyn Blume, a former director of the Lane High School Choir in Charlottesville for several years, died here yesterday at the age of 68.

Mrs. Blume attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, N. Y. She was a religious music director and a former director of the First Methodist Church Choir. Mrs. Blume was a former member of the Morning Music Club.

She was born in Slatington, Pa., May 23, 1901, the daughter of the late Victor S. and Mary Alice Ruch Smith. She was the widow of C. J. M. Blume.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth Blume of Newport News; a daughter, Mrs. C. F. Caliga of Midland, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. William R. Tamblin and Miss Frances Smith of Allentown, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Monticello Memorial Park. Hill and Irving Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
