Mrs. Martha Cook
CONCORD – Mrs. Martha Wingard Cook, 87, of 216 Goodman Circle, died Saturday morning at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital.
Funerals services will be conducted Monday at 4 p.m. at Center Grove Lutheran Church by the Rev. Maurice Staley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 until 9 p.m. at Wilkinson’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cook was born Oct. 7, 1895, in Lexington County, S. C., the daughter of the late Edmund and Minnie Cook Wingard. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Center Grove Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Charles B. Cook, preceded her in death.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Ruby St. John and Mrs. Martha Hodges, both of Concord, Mrs. Eunice Ritchie of Thomasville, Mrs. Ruth Fountain of Albany, Ga., Mrs. Kathryn Kincaid of Lenoir and Mrs. Miriam Robinson of Vale; two sons, Charles “Ken” Cook of Concord and Edmund B. Cook of King; one sister, Miss Fannie Wingard of Concord; four brothers, J. Ralph Wingard of Waxhaw, J. S. Wingard, E. E. Wingard, and W.W. [W. E.] Wingard, all of Concord; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
