MRS. EDDIE [ESSIE] B. SINGLEY
PROSPERITY – Mrs. Essie Black Singley, 96, formerly of Route 3, Box 51-A, widow of Jacob A. Singley, died Feb. 9, 1989 at the Eastern Star Home in Sumter.

Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Mrs. Louise Derrick Black. She attended school in Lexington and Saluda counties and at the Mount Amoena Seminary of Mount Pleasant, N. C. Known as “Miss Essie”, she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 77, serving s past matron. She was a charter member of the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club and a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Prosperity and the Grace Sease Sunday School Class.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sheely (Ellouise) Setzler of Newberry and Mrs. Marian S. Dunlop of Columbia.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, with burial in Prosperity Cemetery.

The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sheely Setzler of 2701 Deloache Ave.

Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church of to the Eastern Star Home of Sumter.
