…An informal recital was given on Friday evening at Mont Amoena Seminary by students of Elizabeth Bortz, director of the music department. Those who appeared on the program included Misses Salome Shirey, Helen Moyle, Ruth Shirey, Mary Rose Ritchie, Bonnie Misenheimer and Pearle Fisher.

Apollo Wedding

Invitations have been issued by Mr. and Mrs. George L. Bortz of Apollo for the marriage of their daughter, Miss Elizabeth Bortz, and James Bustard, son of Mr. and Mrs. JOhn Bustard of Danville, Va., which will take place on Aug. 30. The ceremony will be performed in the Bortz home at 8 p.m. followed by a reception. Miss Jeanne Bortz will be her sister’s maid of honor and Maitland Bustard will serve as his brother’s best man.

Elizabeth Bustard

Elizabeth Bortz Bustard, 272 Cherry Lane, died Thursday morning at her residence.

Born in Apollo, Pa., she was a daughter of the late George John Bortz and Barbara Ellen Bortz. She was the wife of the late James Bustard, former president of First National Bank.

She was educated at the Musical Institute in Pittsburgh, Pa. and was a graduate of The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Bustard also studied extensively at The Institute of Musical Art in New York, at Julliard School of Music and with Edwin Hughes, a noted pianist.

She was a member of the piano faculty at Averett College for four years and taught piano privately in her home at Forest Hills. She was a member of the Shakespeare Study Club, Wednesday Club and the Danville Museum of Fine Art and History.

Mrs. Bustard was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, where she had served as president of the Women of the Church.

She is survived by one nephew, Dr. Forrest Riordan, Rockford, Ill.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Cemetery by the Rev. Patton Boyle.

The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Townes Funeral Home.
