Surprise Wedding at China Grove
China Grove, Sept. 27. – The many friends of our popular were agreeably surprised today when the announcement of the Bostian-Brown marriage were received. Early this morning at 7 o’clock at the home of the bride, Rev. J. L. Brown, father of the groom, performed the ceremon which made the two husband and wife. This was a well kept secret, for the most intimate friends of the couple being in the dark. Mr. Brown is a successful young business man of this place, while the bride, Miss Lottie Grace Bostian, is the attractive young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Bostian of this place.

Mrs. J. R. Brown Dies At Home
CHINA GROVE – Mrs. John R. Brown, 70, died at her home here Sunday. She had been ill for two weeks.
The former Lottie Grac Bostian, she was born Aug. 24, 1884, the daughter of D. W. and Mary Efird Bostian of Rowan County. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. John R. Brown; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Louise Shaw of China Grove and Mrs. Ralph Hodgkin of Greensboro; two sisters Mrs. L. V. Dunlap of Albemarle and Mrs. H. F. Cooper of High Point; three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Harold Terry, pastor the Rev. Claude Bowen of Greensboro and Dr. W. t. Nay of Hickory in charge. Burial will be in the Greenlawn cemetery.
The body will be taken to the residence today at 4.
