Class Play: Esmeralda, 21 May 1923

A short story by Frances Hodgson Burnett, written in 1877. The tale is written from the perspective of a French tutor who meets with an American family, recently come to Paris after making a fortune in iron. The focus is on the daughter Esmeralda, and her mother’s scheming to push the family into Parisian society.
