MISS MATTIE SUSAN DUNCAN
Whitmire. Miss Mattie Susan Duncan, 94, of 315 N. Main St., died Thursday in the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Jacks Township of Laurens County and was a  daughter of the late Joseph and Ella Owens Duncan. She was a member and the oldest in membership of the Whitmire United Methodist Church, a member of the Mattie Suber and Nannie Rampley Circle of the United Methodist Women, member of the Ruth Young Ladies Bible Class, a  member of the senior Citizens Friendship Club. She was a graduate of Mont Amoena Seminary in 1909. She was the last member of her immediate family but had made her home with Otis Duncan, a nephew of Whitmire.

She is also survived by three nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 AM in the Whitmire United Methodist Church by Rev. Harry M. Goewey with burial in Whitmire Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 10 AM on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Whitmire United Methodist Church. Gray Funeral Home, Whitmire.
