The following information is provided by Ben Callahan of the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Society:
Ollie Pearl Foil was born in Cabarrus Co. on 20 Sep 1889, the daughter of Warren D. Foil and Martha C. Fisher.
In 1900 Ollie was living with her parents in Township #8, Cabarrus County. In 1910, the family had moved into Mt. Pleasant. Ollie attended Mont Amoena Seminary in 1909-1910.
Ollie entered Catawba College in Newton, NC in 1911, and in 1914 she was a nursing student at Jefferson College in Philadelphia, PA. In 1916 she was in nursing training at Jefferson Hospital.
Records are unclear about when Ollie was married, but sometime between 1917 and 1921 she married George Henry Faggart. George was a medical doctor who was at Jefferson Medical College and Philadelphia Hospital in 1916-1918. George was also a WWI veteran. He served in the Medical Corps and his military info lists him as married.
In 1920 Ollie “Foil” was listed in the census as residing with her parents in Mt. Pleasant, but other records show her residing in Philadelphia. Her occupation was listed as a nurse in a hospital. [There was no Hospital in Cabarrus, so I think she was actually already married and living in Philly and either someone in the home gave the census taker this incorrect info or he just wrote it from memory. ]
In 1930 Ollie and George were residing in Savannah, GA. George was a medical doctor and Ollie was not employed. .
In 1940. Ollie and George were still living in Savannah, GA on W. Oglethorpe Ave. George was still a physician.
Ollie died in Savannah, GA on 18 Feb 1982. She is buried at Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, GA. [Census says she was married at age 26.]
