MRS. LENTZ DIES RESULT OF SHOCK
Aged Mother Paul A. Lentz is Victim of Bad Automobile Wreck
Mrs. Laura Barrier Lentz, 71 years old, widow of the late L. A. Lentz, and mother of Mr. Paul A. Lentz, freight agent for the Southern at this place, died at 8:20 o’clock last night at the Salisbury hospital, having sustained slight bruises and severe shock in an automobile wreck on the national highway six miles south of Salisbury Saturday night about 7 o’clock. Death is attributed to severe shock.
Mrs. Lentz was a passenger in a Buick touring car belonging to her son, Mr. Paul Lentz, who was driving, and with them was Mr. Lentz’s wife and two little girls, Nancy and Bettie Scott. They were coming to Salisbury from Mt. Pleasant and their car was struck by a car driven by Mr. N. M. Wilson, of Greensboro, after his machine had sideswiped another car standing beside the road getting gas. The Lentz car was also hit by another car from the south shortly after the first wreck and this resulted in the breaking of the left leg of Mr. J. C. Bradshaw who was standing beside the Lentz car endeavoring to render aid. The last car, a Ford, was driven by Mr. Carl Carter, and his sister Margaret, who was riding with him, was also injured. It was this wreck which gave Mrs. Lentz the greater shock.
The funeral of Mrs. Lentz will take place at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at Holy Trinity Lutheran church, Mt. Pleasant, and the interment will be in the church cemetery. A number of Salisubry people will attend the funeral.
Mrs. Lentz, who had been almost an invalid for several years before marriage was Miss Laura Barrier, a daughter of the late David [Daniel] Barrier of Cabarrus county. Three sons and two daughters survive, these being Paul Lentz, of Salisbury; Russell Lentz, of Spartanburg, S. C.; Charlie Lentz, of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Ella Chase, of Salisbury, and Mrs. George Bowen, of Straasburg, Va.
Little Nancy Lentz, who was slightly injured in the wreck, is getting along nicely.
