Mrs. Goodman; Was Teacher At Salisbury
SALISBURY, Jan. 23 – Mrs. Carrie Lingle Goodman, 75, of 624 Mitchell Avenue, wife of Linus G. Goodman Sr., died at 2:10 a.m. yesterday at Duke Hospital in Durham after six months of declining health.
She was born in Rowan County to Littleton W. and Ellen Bost Lingle. She attended Rowan County schools and Mount Amoena Seminary at Mount Pleasant and later taught in city and county schools. She was married in June 1913.
Surviving are her husband; a son, L. G. Goodman Jr. of Salisbury; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred G. Beaver and Mrs Nancy Bowden, both of Salisbury; a sister, Mrs. K. G. Peeler of Salisbury; and four grandsons.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Women of the Church, and the Snyder Bible Class.
The funeral will be conducted today at 3:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Rev. R. Douglas Fritz. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
