Lyerly-McCombs

On Monday evening at 8:30 o’clock Mr. Paul J. Lyerly and Miss Leona McCombs were quietly married in the Bethany Reformed church at Crescent. The ceremony was performed in the presence of a few friends by the Rev. John A. Koons. Mr. Lyerly is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Lyerly of Granite Quarry, and Mrs. Lyerly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. McCombs of Crescent. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lyerly have taught in the Public Schools of Rowan county for several years.

Mrs. Lyerly

SALISBURY – Funeral services for Mrs. P. J. Lyerly, 66, of Granite Quarry, who died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at her home following several years of declining health, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christiana Lutheran church by the Rev. George A. Phillips. Burial will be in the family plot of the church cemetery.

The former Leona Sarah McCombs, daughter of Mrs. W. M. McCombs of Kannapolis, and the late Mr. McCombs of Kannapolis, she was born September 12, 1893 in Rowan county. She was educated in the Rowan County public schools and attended the Mont Amoena Seminary in Mt. Pleasant.

Surviving are her husband, P. J. Lyerly; one son, Paul Junior Lyerly of El Paso, Tex; her mother, Mrs. W. M. McCombs of Kannapolis; five brothers, Harlee McCombs of Faith, Luther McCombs of Rockwell, Rt. 2, John McCombs of China Grove, Charles McCombs of Kannapolis, and Loy McCombs of Creedmore; three sisters, Misses Clora and Ila McCombs of Kannapolis, and Mrs. Lee Sloop of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.
