Mrs. John W. Cress Passes At Her Home in Cabarrus

Concord, March 30 – Mrs. John W. Cress, of No. 5 Township, died at 7:40 o’clock this morning from pneumonia. She was 70 years old and had been in declining health for some time. She was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran church with which she became affiliated in girlhood.

Surviving are her husband, and three children, J. L. Cress, Mrs. Houck Richards and Mrs. Paul Walker, all of this county; eight brothers and sisters, J. T. Ritchie, Mrs. Ernest Faggart and Mrs. Scott Overcash, all of Portersville, Calif.; John L. Ritchie of Blackstone, Va.; Rev. E. L. Ritchie, of Mercersburg, Pa.; H. J. Ritchie, Mrs. J. A. Suther, and Mrs. Turner Walker, all of this county; her mother, Mrs. George E. Ritchie and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock from St. John’s Lutheran church.
