Mrs. Helen Herion
MT PLEASANT – Helen Seaford Herion 90, formerly of Main Stret, Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1993, at University North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity of which she was a life-ling member. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The Rev. Donald Deal and the Rev. Claude V. Deal will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Gordon Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Born Jan. 1, 1903, in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Samuel T. Seaford and Ina Barringer Seaford. She was a graduate of Mont Amoena Seminary and taught school for seven years. She was active in her church and the N. C. Lutheran Synod and served on the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services Board for many years. She was member of the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Society.

Her husband was the late John H. Herion.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Deal of Durham; two sons, John C. Herion of Chapel Hill and Charles G. Herion of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; sister, Miss Sara Seaford of Salisbury; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Helen S. Herion

Helen S. Herion, age 90, of Mt. Pleasant, died at University North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Recently she had lived iat Durham Regent Retirement Residence, Durham, NC.

Born Jan. 1, 1903, in Mt. Pleasant, NC where she lived all her life, she was the oldest daughter of the late Ina B. and Samuel T. Seaford. She was a graduate of Mont Amoena Seminary and for seven years taught in various North Carolina elementary public schools. She was married to the late John H. Herion and for 64 years made a loving home for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and an active worker in the congregational life of her church and the N. C. Lutheran Synod. She was a life long member o the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Mt. Pleasant, NC.

She served for a number of years on the Board of Directors for the Cabarrus County Department of Social Services. She was member of the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Society.

Surviving are three children, John C. Herion, MD, of Chapel Hill, NC, Charles G. Herion, Chagrin Falls, OH, Elizabeth H. Deal, Durham, NC; ten grandchildren, Gary Herion, Oneonta, NY, John M. Herion, Wilmington, NC, Diane H. Bell, Asheboro, NC, Carol Herion, Cary, NC, David Herion, Bethesda, MD, Mark Herion, Chagrin Falls, OH, Beth H. McKnight, Matthews, NC, Jeffrey Deal, Lake Charles, LA, Brian Deal, Philadelphia, PA, Douglas Deal, Chapel Hill, NC; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 7, 1993 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Mt. Pleasant, NC, by the Reverend Donald Deal, pastor, and the Reverend Claude V. Deal, son-in-law. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8:30 PM Monday, December 6, 1993 at Gordon Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, NC.
