Julia Shirey Smith

Julia Shirey Smith, 87, of Salisbury, died Thursday (June 17, 1999) at the Brian Center of Salisbury.

Born May 1, 1912, in Mount Pleasant, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Winona Cook and Luther S. Shire. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Mrs. Smith was formerly the executive secretary of the American Cancer Society of Salisbury.

Her husband, John E. Smith, died in 1972.

Survivors include son Ellis Smith, Salisbury; daughter Julie S. Banks, Hilton Head, S. C.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Mount Pleasant, conducted by the Rev. Donald Deal. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: Following the committal service Sunday afternoon.
