Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home of Rev. M. L. Kester, on North Church street, Mr. Clarence D. Dry, of Gaffney, S. C., and Miss Mary Ury, of this city, were united in marriage, Rev. Mr. Kester officiating. Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Dry left for Gaffney, S. C., where they will make their home. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Dry, of No. 7 township. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ury, also of this country. For several years she has taught in the public schools of the county. This young couple has the best wishes of a host of friends throughout the county.

Mary Dry

Mrs. Mary Ury Dry, 93, formerly of 1703 Lowder St., Albemarle, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 1991, in the Albemarle Unit of Lutheran Nursing Homes, Inc.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Furst Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Pastor John M. Hawn will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park.

Born April 21, 1898, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late George and Clara Kluttz Ury and was a graduate of Mont Amoena Seminary at Mount Pleasant. She was retired section superintendent with Boone Laundry, formerly City Laundry founded by her father-in-law, F. O. Dry, and E. W. Ridenhour in 1924.

Her husband, Clarence Dewey Dry, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Warren O. Dry of Charlotte; three daughters, Mrs. Katheryn Dry McAllister of Raleigh, Mrs. Hariette Dry Treece of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Rebecca Dry Whitley of Albemarle; a brother, John Ury of Winter Haven, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Merle Tarlton of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Stanly Funeral Home.
