Mrs. Merle Tarlton
MOUNT PLEASANT – Merle Ury Tarlton, 97, a resident of Concord Nursing center, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at the center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, where she was a life member. The Rev. Donald Deal will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Gordon Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant from 6:30 until 8 tonight.
Born Jan. 17, 1901, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late George Ury and Clara Kluttz Ury. Mrs. Tarlton was a Gold Star Mother and was also a member of WELCA. She also attended Mont Amoena Seminary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Everett Tarlton, three sons, and a daughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Alma T. Ward and Gail T. Porter, both of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
