Mrs. Agnes Cook Johnston
Mrs. Agnes Cook Johnston age 82, of 3025 Selwyn Ave., widow of David Luke Johnston, died suddenly in a local hospital Saturday morning. Born November 2, 1880 in Mount Pleasant, N. C. She was the daughter of the late Captain Jonas and Martha Regena Cook. She attended private school and was graduated from Mont Amoena Seminary where she majored in music, she came to Mecklenburg County in 1907 as a bride and has lived at 3025 Selwyn Ave. since 1937. She was the oldest charter member of Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church. Survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Thomas Jerome Orr, Mrs. Elliot Rector Motley of Charlotte, Mrs. Deane Clare Tasker of Chapel Hill, N. C. 7 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. John Luther Shirey of Mount Pleasant, N. C. A brother Karl W. Cook Mount Pleasant, N. C. Funeral services will be conducted 3 P. M. Monday, Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church, pastor Rev. W. Chester Keller officiating.
