Married in Saluda

Miss Viola May Dantzler, of Camer, and Mr. Malcolm Luther Baker, of Raleigh, N.C., were married at the Lutheran parsonage in Saluda Wednesday morning, May 15th, at seven a.m., Rev. N. D. Bodie officiating. They left immediately over the Augusta Northern for Raleigh. Miss Dantzler has been teaching in Saluda the past session and has many friends whose best wishes will follow her.

Mrs. M.L. Baker Sr.

WHITMIRE—Mrs. Viola Dantzler Baker, 73, wife of M. L. Baker Sr., died at a Whitmire medical center Wednesday morning after a week’s illness.

She was a native of Orangeburg County, daughter of the late Henry I. and Josephine Fogle Dantzler, and had lived near Whitmire 50 years. She taught school in Newberry County a number of years. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Fred Inman of Greenwood; five sons, Paul Baker of Rock Hill, Robert, M. L. Jr., Claude and Kenneth Baker of Whitmire; two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Franklin of Newberry and Miss Virginia Dantzler of White Rock; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church by Rev. N. D. Yount. Burial will be in Beth Eden Lutheran Church Cemetery in Newberry County.

The body will be taken to the home of Robert Baker, 114 O’Dell St., Thursday afternoon. Abrams Funeral Home is in charge.
