Dr. Charles Linn Dies In Atlanta
Dr. Charles A. Linn, president of the Georgia and Alabama Synod of the Lutheran Church, died at his home in Atlanta late last night of a heart attack.
Dr. Linn became president of the synod three years ago after serving as pastor of the Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Savannah for 21 years.
Born in Mt. Pleasant in Cabarrus County, he was the son of Mrs. Mary C. Linn of Atlanta and the late Rev. J. A. Linn. His father once held a pastorate at Rockwell. Dr. Linn has many friends and relatives in Rowan County.
Dr. Linn is survived by his widow, the former Jennie Holmes Snider of Salisbury; a daughter, Mrs. Marshall C. Pitts of Albany, Ga.; two brothers, Rev. John K. Linn of Columbia, S. C., and Rev. J. Arthur Linn of Hickory; and his mother.
Funeral services for Dr. Linn will be held at 2 p. m. tomorrow at the Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta, Ga., after which the body will be brought to Salisbury. Graveside services will be held at 10 a. m., Thursday and interment will follow in the City Memorial Park.
