“The Chaperone” Will Be Presented Friday Evening, January 26.

“The Chaperone,” a play is being prepared by the senior class of Mont Amoena Seminary under the able direction of Miss Anna Schebeck. It will be given at the Mount Pleasant auditorium Friday evening, January 26, at 7:30.

This play contains many hearty laughs. The action is rapid and holds the attention of the audience throughout the entire time. It is elevating in tone, yet contains much refreshing wit. Appropriate music will be rendered during the scenes, having musical setting by Mr. H. A. Stirewalt of the Seminary faculty.

The scene is laid in a fashionable seminary for young ladies.

Joyce Dynecourt, the popular favorite, never lets a golden opportunity pass to play a joke. Mlle. Jeane, the French teacher, who pries into everything, is the object of her many jokes.

The young ladies receive an invitation to visit the studio of a rising artist. They realize that they can not go unchaperoned and rather than have Mlle. Joyce disguises herself in one of Mrs. Dynecourt’s costumes and becomes the chaperone. It is through this deception that Joyce learns of the existence of her sister, whom she thought dead.

A particularly interesting character is the stylish Miss Nora McCarthy, the Irish maid.
